Colin Stewart to join The Paraplanners in November
I’m really pleased to let you know that Colin Stewart will be joining our team at The Paraplanners from 1 November 2014.
Colin is an Accredited Paraplanner with a PFS Diploma. He is currenty working towards his Certified Financial Planner licence.
He began his career in a business development role with Scottish Life back in 2000.
It was while he was at Scottish Life that he first worked with paraplanners based in customers’ businesses and realised that paraplanning was a role that really appealed to him.
Since then, Colin hasn’t looked back – establishing really valuable experience in paraplanning roles in businesses ranging from smaller financial planning practices right through to an IFA national and private bank.
Since 2009, Colin’s been a paraplanner with Edinburgh Wealth Management.
At The Paraplanners, Colin will work alongside our paraplanning team – Richard Allum, Kat Mock, Claire Goodwin and me – and Gemma Dennis who leads our client administrative management service. Colin is also our first paraplanner based in Scotland – living and working in Penicuik, Midlothian.
Although he’s not due to start with us until next month, we asked Colin to jot down a few thoughts about why he and The Paraplanners were the ideal fit. Here’s what he said:
“I saw that The Paraplanners were recruiting so took a look at the website to find out more about the business and the team. The more I read, the more it became clear to me that this was a team that was playing at the top of its game.”
“I thought: ‘Well, if I’m going to make the jump into outsourced paraplanning, I may as well shoot for the Moon!’ so I dropped Richard a line.”
“I’m sure switching to outsourced paraplanning will have its challenges but this was too good an opportunity to let it just pass me by.”
We’re thrilled to welcome Colin to the team. It’s a real pleasure to be able to attract really talented professionals to our team.
What’s more, Colin’s arrival underlines the philosophy behind our approach to people and professionalism: Taking the time to seek out paraplanners with great experience and a clear desire to flourish professionally is great for our team, for our financial planning clients and – of course – the financial wellbeing of the people that our clients look after.
